Hunter Lee

My Story

Hunter Lee has been fascinated by the weather for as long as he and his parents can remember. Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel was his favorite show growing up, and he would spend hours watching the Weather Channel with his late grandfather. This early passion for meteorology stuck with him, and today, Hunter is pursuing his dream as a meteorology student at Western Kentucky University (WKU).

Known as Huntsman8804 on TikTok, Hunter has built a growing brand, Huntsman Weather, where he shares his love of the weather and his journey through life. The name "Huntsman Weather" came about in middle school, when a teacher started calling him Huntsman, and the nickname stuck. What started as casual weather reports during his senior year of high school quickly turned into viral content, with one of his first big hits—covering a snowstorm in Gatlinburg, TN—gaining 10,000 views. Since then, his engaging, informative, and often humorous videos have resonated with a growing audience. Two of his TikTok videos have reached over a million views, and he recently hit the milestone of 10,000 followers.

At WKU, Hunter mixes weather forecasts with a behind-the-scenes look at his life on campus, including Game Day previews and reviews, travel adventures, and fun facts about the weather. His content is not only entertaining but also educational—Hunter is passionate about helping people stay informed and prepared for severe weather, particularly tornadoes and hurricanes. Local businesses in Bowling Green, such as Cheetah Clean Car Wash and G-Dogs, have even reached out to collaborate with him.

This past summer, Hunter completed his first internship with Friends of the Festival in Chattanooga, TN. Over the course of 13 weeks, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, he provided weather forecasting and emergency management for Riverfront Nights, a live concert series. Hunter enjoyed the experience immensely and has already been invited back for next summer.

Though diagnosed with Asperger’s in middle school and facing challenges in his early years, Hunter has found a supportive community through his TikTok platform. His success has opened many doors, including the opportunity to work alongside the WKBO meteorologist for a Game Day forecast, making him the only student to ever do so. His forecast was even displayed on the jumbotron during the game. He has also been featured in several news stories and articles.

Hunter's goal is simple: to help people stay safe, make them smile, and entertain them along the way. He has already collaborated with meteorology legends like James Spann and Dr. Josh Wurman, and dreams of one day working with Jim Cantore.

You can find Hunter on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, where he continues to share his journey and live out his personal motto: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

When he's not in school or studying, Hunter is WKU’s biggest sports fan. He has done videos with football, basketball, and volleyball players, as well as coaches. He loves all things Hilltopper and is actively involved in campus life as a member of the FCA, the Meteorology Club, and White Squirrel Weather. Originally from Chickamauga, GA, Hunter graduated from Gordon Lee High School, where he was in the marching band for five years and served as band chaplain his senior year.
